
Read-a-Thon
View Acres PTO is hosting the annual READ-A-THON beginning Monday, October 7th! Our goal this year is $10,000. Money raised from this event supports educational activities, programs and supplies throughout the school year.
The theme for this year is “Dive Into Reading” and will culminate with the Family Swim Night on October 18th!*
Read-a-Thon packets will be sent home with students on October 4th.
(*Family Swim Night is open to All View Acres families. Participation in Read-a-Thon is not required to attend.)

Every student who sets up a pledge page will receive a prize.
Students who raise even $1 will be entered into a drawing for a larger, super fun prize!
See below for instructions on setting up a pledge page. It’s super easy!Reading time minutes are accumulated when the student reads, or is being read to, including in the classroom. Record each day’s minutes on the tracker below. Each student’s total minutes will go towards their classroom total. Grades will be divided K-2nd and 3rd-5th. The classroom with the most minutes from each division will receive a Pizza Party!
Students are encouraged to find sponsors willing to support them by donating a Flat Donation Amount.
Online Donations - We are using 99Pledges to collect online donations. Read below to learn how to set up your child’s individual fundraising page. It’s quick and easy to do and allows for you to reach out to friends and family by email, Facebook or other means instead of going door to door, tracking commitments and handling checks.
Check or Cash Donations are still gladly accepted. Checks should be made payable to View Acres PTO.
October 21st - Return the Reading & Pledge Tracker and any Check or Cash Donations in the provided envelope to the school office. Even if all donations are made online through your 99Pledges page, we ask that you fill out and return the Pledge Tracker. This helps us with accounting for all pledges.

To add your child as a participant, please follow these easy steps:
Visit: https://app.99pledges.com/fund/viewacresread24/addme
Enter your child’s name, enter your email(s)
Click the “Add” Button.
You’ll be directed to your newly created pledge page. On the page you’ll see a unique link to your page that you can share.
We’re asking families to make a donation for whatever amount you can, and to share your child’s pledge page link with friends and family.
We are hoping for 100% participation, so no amount is too small. We will exceed our goal if every student raises just $30!
Sample sharing text can be found at the top of the Pledge Tracker Form. Just be sure to include the link to your child’s pledge page.

Reading and Pledge tracking forms were sent home with your child; however, forms can and do get lost. Not to worry! Additional forms can be found in the school office or downloaded using the following link!

Set a goal for how much money you would like to raise. This will help you stay motivated!
Make a list of friends, relatives and neighbors to contact that may be willing to support your efforts. A nice letter or a thoughtful phone call may do the trick!
“Please” and “thank you” go a long way!
Remember to track your pledges.
Definitely be sure to track your reading minutes! Your minutes will be added to your classroom’s total.
